We deploy state-of-the-art agronomic techniques and we favour the use of products that are entirely natural or that in any case have low levels of environmental impact, doing our utmost at all times to comply with the guidelines on organic farming.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2453&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text]In 2018, Santom\u00e8 obtained certification from the <strong>SQNPI National Quality System for Integrated Production<\/strong>, the sustainable quality mark. <strong>Integrated production<\/strong> is the name given to that system of agri-food production that uses all of the methods geared towards defending the vineyards by <strong>reducing to a minimum the use of synthetic chemical substances<\/strong> and by streamlining the agronomic techniques in order to comply fully with the highest ecological, economic and toxicological principles.<\/p>\n<p>The integrated production guidelines are set out in a document drafted at regional level with a view to pursuing the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>enhancing the hygiene, safety and quality of the grapes and, therefore, of the wines<\/li>\n<li>protecting the environment<\/li>\n<li>raising the level of safety and professionalism of the workers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is, as such, a <strong>mark of sustainable quality<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1571409849730-f0437a74-c4fe-3&#8243; include=&#8221;2456,2457,2458,2681&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our certified wine is the fruit of numerous processes and checks conducted right across the production cycle, from the fields all the way to the bottling stage.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Santom\u00e8&#8217;s efforts to support the environment&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:center&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2469&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>No recourse to herbicides<\/strong> in the vineyards \u2013 the cutting of the grass between the rows and between the vines is carried out mechanically[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2472&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]To combat vine diseases, we favour <strong>natural products<\/strong> or, in any case, products that have low levels of environmental impact, as acknowledged by the European Union[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2475&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Underground or drip irrigation systems in the vineyards<\/strong> for a streamlined use of water, avoiding useless waste [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2474&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Rationalised use of water<\/strong> in the winery, too, again to avoid unnecessary waste[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2477&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Low level use of sulphites<\/strong> in the wines, with no more than 50% of the maximum levels permitted by law. This makes it possible to produce wines that are increasingly natural without compromising on their coverage or protection. [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2479&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]Use of <strong>888 solar panels<\/strong> installed from 2010 onwards, with an annual output of around 230,000 kWh, meeting around 70% of the company\u2019s annual energy needs. This energy generation allows us to prevent 121,900 kg per year of CO2 from being emitted. To put this figure in context, this quantity of energy would meet the annual energy requirement of 75 households (annual household consumption = 3,000 kWh.)[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_media_grid element_width=&#8221;3&#8243; grid_id=&#8221;vc_gid:1571409849735-668c56dc-65a1-5&#8243; include=&#8221;2488,2491,2489,2490&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the <strong>treatment operations<\/strong>, we use <strong>drift-recovery sprayers<\/strong> that avoid any type of substance being dispersed into the environment and target only the leaf of the vine or the grape itself.<\/p>\n<p>Using this method, we can achieve:[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2481&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Product saving of more than 40% per year<\/strong> with respect to conventional equipment, since a large part is recovered and re-used[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2483&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Saving of fuel<\/strong> and, therefore, reduction of <strong>atmospheric CO2 emissions<\/strong>, since the recovery equipment used does not require the tractor engine to operate at full power[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2485&#8243; img_size=&#8221;100&#215;100&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Noise reduction<\/strong>, since the tractor engine works at a lower power
