Well, as is often the case with newborns, we have to look to the origins, the predecessors, about which there is a rather strange anecdote.<\/p>\n<p>Having consulted the previous owners, a telegram arrived <strong>from Brazil<\/strong> on 13 August, 1999, from someone who had spent his childhood in the very place where the B&amp;B is now located: \u201cThe farm was called Santom\u00e8 [short for San Tommaso, or \u201cSaint Thomas\u201d in English], an apostle who was so curious that he always wanted to see before believing\u201d, signed \u201c<strong>Father Gino Serafin<\/strong>, born exactly 63 years ago in that land of good wine\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The piece of news certainly had a ring of truth about it, and it came from a person who knew that land inside out \u2013\u00a0its fruits, its qualities, its sweat and tears[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<a href=\"#padreginoserafin\">Father Gino Serafin and his mission in Brasil &gt;<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1197&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em>Father Gino Serafin &#8211; July 2001<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;735&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_separator][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The Logo&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Pitch-perfect in its styling and colours, the logo \u2013\u00a0something of a seal of quality \u2013 is the element that most effectively highlights and sets the tone for the label. It depicts the apostle <strong>Saint Thomas (Santom\u00e8)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That saint \u2013 with his fingers at a <strong>right angle<\/strong>, as if they were a tool for measuring and checking just about anything \u2013 perfectly embodies the <strong>spirit of our modern entrepreneurs<\/strong>; a spirit that makes the most both of the innovations so typical of the creativity of north-eastern Italy, and of the genuine quality of a product that has its roots in the most down-to-earth of rural cultures.<\/p>\n<p>In the art of the Middle Ages and the early 18th century, Saint Thomas is often portrayed holding a set square \u2013\u00a0an architect\u2019s instrument \u2013 since he had to construct a building for King Gondophares, in India, as recounted by a number of apocryphal gospels. Saint Thomas is also depicted in this way on the eastern door of Bamberg Cathedral (1230) in Bavaria (Germany).
