La Margherita

Dimension: 20.30 m²

The Daisy is claimed to have prophetic powers. Lovers pluck the petals to see if their love is reciprocated. In the Middle Ages, women publicly recognized their love when they granted their suitor permission to decorate his armour with two daisies.

Others assigned an entirely different message to this flower: when a woman was not sure of her lover’s affection she decorated her forehead with daisies.
The daisy is a symbol of simplicity, freshness and purity.

Dimension: 20.30 m²

The origins of the Cornflower are extremely ancient, with traces dating back to the Neolithic era. It is known as the “herb of magic spells“.

Hence the botanical name of the flower, Centaurea Cyanus; Centaurea comes from the story of the centaur Chiron, who cured a poisoned arrow wound on his foot with the flower juice.

In the East, lovers give it to their beloved in the hope of obtaining her favours. In flower language it signifies happiness and light heartedness.

Since then, in fact, the Camellia flower came into use as an ornament for necklines and hemlines on women’s dresses; Madame Chanel pinned it to the lapel of her suits, thus spreading the fashion.

In the 30s, the Camellia was an essential feature in the majority of late Romantic gardens throughout Europe. Tea is made from the leaves of several varieties.

In flower language the Camellia signifies perfect beauty and unaffected superiority. When given as a gift it is a sign of esteem.

Dimension: 22.86 m²

A very ancient plant, with fossil remains dating to the Tertiary Era, around 70 to 120 million years ago. The hydrangea evokes the coolness of shady and secluded locations, swept through by soft and silent breezes.

Commonly known as hortensia, its botanical name is Hydrangea, from the Greek roots that associates the word hydor (meaning water) with angeion (vase). This term probably refers to the unusual form of its seed pods that recall water drops.

In Italy irises are very common in the Tuscan countryside; this flower apparently inspired the coat of arms of the city of Florence, which has always been known as the Florentine Iris. King Louis of France also chose it as a symbol of his country. The iris is one of Japan’s national flowers. The meaning associated to this flower is a message of good tidings.
